Donald began carving while in high school in 1983. He has participated in competitions since 1985, earning several prestigious awards. His specialties are songbirds, hawks, owls, and wildfowl.
He prides himself on the finer details of his birds, striving to bring each bird's personality out in the wood. Donald is continually building upon his knowledge and honing his skills to attain greater accuracy and detail in his carvings, consulting with other experts and studying birds in their natural settings.
Donald promotes his art at various venues, does commission work, and takes on students for private carving instruction.
